“After years of hard use by boys and pets, and a second basement flood, I decided it was time to renovate my basement into functional living space, which it had not been. Maurice’s name had been given to me by a friend and I was offered the opportunity to seen an example of his work. His attention to detail was extraordinary as was his ability to transform and incorporate other pieces of furniture into a design. I called for a quote.
Maurice examined my space and indicated what I could and could not have done with a price range. Taking down supporting walls is quite expensive. As I had already spent a fair amount of money on repairing the basement and it was little used by me, I asked for a “simple” renovation rather than a redesign.
The basement was gutted and a whole new area of living space was created. I had asked for a slab of natural wood be used for a dry bar. This was found and placed on top of an old TV cabinet with a beautiful end product. I wanted a barn door and this was incorporated into the recreational area. A mantle for the TV was envisioned by Maurice and turned out great. When stained to match the barn door and bar, it too created a warm, southwestern look.
I Was very pleased with the overall job. Maurice was tough about ensuring things were done ‘perfectly’. His work was flawless. The crew cleaned up after each day’s work. With reference to subcontractors, I knew when and who was coming. It took time but was worth the wait.”
